Ancient Toroni controlled the passage to the Toronean Gulf and was a strong naval power, with its name giving the designation to the entire gulf. ### The Peninsula of Lekythos **Lekythos** is the small rocky peninsula that closes the bay. In classical times, it was one of the **two acropolises** of ancient Toroni.
