In summer, water-sports centres at several of Sithonia's larger organised beaches rent out jet skis, usually for 15, 20 or 30 minutes. The peninsula's coastline — rocky headlands, small coves and clear water — makes for a particularly scenic ride.

### Before you rent

- Ask the centre which licence is required and whether you can ride alone or with an instructor.
- Ask for a life jacket and a short briefing on the area you are allowed to ride in.
- Check what the insurance covers in case of damage.

### Safety

- Stay out of the swimming zones marked with buoys near the shore, and slow right down near swimmers and boats.
- At midday in July and August the wind often picks up; mornings are usually calmer.
- Wear sunscreen and sunglasses — you burn faster on the water than you think.

### Alternatives

If you would rather explore spots reachable only by sea at a gentler pace, small boats can be rented in Vourvourou for the Diaporos islets, and sailing trips leave from Neos Marmaras.
