The beach is small to medium-sized, sandy, with a shallow seabed. It is partially organized with several fish tavernas along the coast. While not the most impressive beach in Halkidiki, it is functional and accessible. The most noteworthy aspect of Agios Mamas isn't the beach but its fish tavernas. The small harbor has a fishing fleet that provides fresh seafood daily. Specialties include mussels from nearby farms, sardines, red mullet, and octopus. On weekends, it fills up with Thessaloniki residents coming for Sunday lunch. For swimming: decent but not among the best in Halkidiki. The waters are generally clean but less clear than those of more southern beaches due to its location in an inland bay. Its proximity to Thessaloniki makes Agios Mamas a popular destination for day trips. Combo plan: beach in the morning, fish lunch at a taverna in the harbor, return in the afternoon.
