## Description

Marathias is a small beach in southern Sithonia, about two kilometres from Porto Koufo, between Lemos beach and Toroni. It's a cove roughly 250 metres long, with sand and pebbles, shallow water close to shore and rocky points on either side.

The beach is free and unorganised, so bring an umbrella, water and something to eat; on busy days a snack van may appear, but don't count on it. The rocks at the edges are good for snorkelling, with sea bream, octopus and very clear water. For children the water near the shore is shallow, but take care near the rocks — water shoes help.

Access is from the road to Porto Koufo and parking is limited, so on August weekends arrive early. For food, the fish tavernas of Porto Koufo are a few minutes' drive away, and the long sandy beach of Toroni about five kilometres.
