## Description

Vergia Beach is located in northwestern Kassandra, near Nea Fokaia. It is one of the more "local" beaches in the area — somewhat unknown to foreign tourists, but a favorite among Thessaloniki residents who are familiar with the region.

It is 85 km from Thessaloniki (about 1 hour and 15 minutes by car). The coastline is sandy, relatively short (~400 meters), with a shallow seabed. Almost entirely free — there are a few sunbeds in a small section, but no large beach bars. There is a kiosk at the back for drinks, water, and snacks.

The small scale of the beach means it can fill up on peak weekends in August, but generally, it remains quiet. The clientele includes Greek families, locals, and a few foreigners who know the area.

The significant advantage is the quality of the water — since it is not a crowded beach, the waters remain exceptionally clean. For snorkeling, there are interesting rocky corners at the ends of the beach.

Nearby Nea Fokaia (2 km away) has notable fish taverns where you can eat after swimming — the area is known for the fishing tradition of the Asia Minor refugees who settled there in 1922.

For families with small children: the shallow waters are safe, but the limited infrastructure (no lifeguard, no full organization) means that extra caution is needed. Free parking is available at the ends.
