It's one of the closest beaches for city residents, and many families choose it for a day by the sea. The shore is sandy with a shallow seabed that continues for quite a few metres, safe for young children. Most of it is free, while in some sections you'll find sunbeds, cafés and a snack bar. On summer weekends many people come from Thessaloniki, so weekdays are noticeably quieter. The beach faces the Thermaic Gulf and gets sun in the afternoon until sunset, and on very clear days Mount Olympus is visible across the water. Anthoupoli is about two kilometres away, with Mykoniatika and the long beach of Nea Kallikratia, with its promenade and tavernas, further on.
