## Description

Nea Potidea beach is located at the northern entrance of Kassandra, right next to the historic Potidea Canal. It is 70 km (about 55 minutes by car) from Thessaloniki — one of the closest beaches to the city.

The coastline is sandy, with shallow waters. It is partially organized with sunbeds and beach bars in some areas, while other parts remain free.

The Potidea Canal is a historical monument — an engineering work that separates Kassandra from the rest of Halkidiki. It was originally created in antiquity and has been recorded and reused throughout various eras. A brief visit after swimming is worthwhile.

The surrounding area has archaeological significance — ancient Potidea was an important city mentioned by Thucydides. A few remnants are still visible in the nearby locations.

For swimming: safe shallow waters, suitable for children. For snorkeling: moderate opportunities.

Visitor profile: mixed — locals from Thessaloniki for day trips, families, foreign tourists. Due to its proximity to Thessaloniki, the beach gets crowded on weekends.

In the village of Nea Potidea, there are fish taverns, cafes, and small accommodations. A good "gateway" to Kassandra.

Free parking is available at the edges, but it can be tight on peak weekends. Best period: June-September.
