# Summer in Halkidiki

## Why Halkidiki in Summer?
Halkidiki is the **top summer destination in Northern Greece**. Its three peninsulas — **Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos** — stretch across more than 500 kilometres of coastline and hold one of the highest counts of **Blue Flag beaches** in the country. It is close enough to Thessaloniki (the airport is just 1 to 1.5 hours from Kassandra) yet wild enough that you can still find an empty cove even in August.

## When to Come
The season runs from **June to September**. In July and August the sea reaches **25-27°C** and the air 30-35°C — perfect for swimming, but also the busiest stretch, peaking around the 15 August holiday. **June and September** are quieter and cheaper, with temperatures of 25-30°C and water that stays warm into mid-October.
