Kalamitsi is a small seaside settlement in southern Sithonia, known for one of the most striking beaches in Halkidiki. The eponymous Kalamitsi beach forms a double, sheltered bay with deep-blue, shallow water and rocky islets — a scene reminiscent of an exotic lagoon.
Kalamitsi is a favourite for lovers of nature, diving and free camping, with a more "alternative", laid-back character than the organised resorts. The rocks and small coves around it are ideal for snorkelling.
Equally beautiful shores are very close: Porto Koufo (~6 km), the largest natural harbour in Greece, Toroni and Sykia.
A few tavernas and beach bars by the sea offer fresh fish and a drink with a view, at a calm summer pace.
It's at the southern tip of Sithonia, about 2 hours by car from Thessaloniki — far enough to keep its calm.
Ideal for couples, young people and nature lovers wanting deep-blue water and a relaxed atmosphere. Main season is May–September.
