Kriopigi is a picturesque village of Kassandra, built amphitheatrically on a green hillside with panoramic views over the Toronaios Gulf and Sithonia opposite. Its name means "cold spring", referring to the area's cool waters. It offers a rare mix: a traditional village character up on the hill and organised beaches just below.
Unlike the "flat" seaside resorts, Kriopigi is built on the heights, so it offers some of the best sunsets and views in all of Kassandra. The settlement keeps a quiet, family atmosphere, away from the loud noise of the big clubs — ideal for those who want to relax with a view.
Below the village stretch organised beaches with clear water and sun loungers. Very close by is the area of Glarokavos, a natural cove/lagoon with calm, shallow water and a small marina — ideal for families and small boats.
In the square and the village lanes you'll find traditional tavernas with a view, serving local dishes, grills and fresh fish. In the evening, the coolness of the heights makes dining especially pleasant even in the heart of summer — an advantage hard to find in the seaside resorts.
Kriopigi is about 1.5 hours (~90 km) by car from Thessaloniki. Its central position in eastern Kassandra makes it a good base for exploring nearby Hanioti, Polychrono and traditional Afytos on short drives.
Ideal for couples and families wanting calm and a view, with the beach close at hand. Main season is May–September; the atmosphere stays calm even in August, unlike the busier neighbouring resorts.
