Nea Plagia is a seaside village in the Triglia municipal unit of Nea Propontida, on the Thermaic Gulf, about 7 km west of Nea Moudania.
The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as shown by the toumba, the artificial mound where settlements of that era stood. Today's village was founded after 1922 by refugees from Plagia in Eastern Thrace. In the stream towards Nea Tenedos stands an 18th-century stone bridge, believed to have been built by monks.
Plagia – Flogita beach, a long stretch of sand shared by the two villages, is about 1.5 km from the centre and draws many visitors every summer.
Residents work in farming, mainly vegetables, and in tourism. The village has all basic services, including a rural medical centre and schools.
Flogita is right next door (about 1.5 km), Nea Triglia about 4 km and Sozopoli about 5 km away. Nea Moudania, with shops and a port, is about 7 km away.
Families and anyone who wants the sea close to Thessaloniki, in a village that is lived in all year round.
