Nea Plagia is a seaside village on Halkidiki's mainland coast, near Nea Moudania and the entrance to Kassandra. Thanks to its short distance from Thessaloniki, it's a popular, easy family destination with a population of around 1,500.

The main beach, Portes, is sandy with shallow water, organised and suitable for children. The wider coast toward Nea Moudania offers many more swimming options, with loungers and beach bars.
The combination of short distance (~45 minutes to 1 hour from Thessaloniki), an organised beach and a calm atmosphere makes it ideal for quick getaways and family holidays without a long drive — one of the most convenient destinations for city residents.
You'll find fish tavernas, cafés and bars along the beach, at a more relaxed pace than the big resorts on the legs.
Very close by are Nea Moudania (a commercial centre and port, ~4 km), Portaria and ancient Olynthos, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in Greece.
Ideal for families and Thessaloniki residents wanting nearby sea. Main season is May–September, lively at weekends too.
