Nikiti is the largest village of Sithonia and the natural gateway to Halkidiki's second "leg". Nikiti is widely known as the beekeeping centre of Halkidiki. Its pine and flower honey is famous across Greece for its quality, and a honey festival is held every summer with exhibitions and tastings. It's an authentic local product well worth buying straight from the producers.
Nikiti's main beach is long, sandy and fully organised, with a Blue Flag. Just outside the village lie some of Sithonia's most beautiful shores, such as Agios Ioannis, Kastri and Lagomandra, with crystal-clear water, pines reaching the sea and picturesque headlands — ideal for swimming, snorkelling and calm.
Old Nikiti preserves stone mansions and the church of Agios Nikitas, while the wider area has revealed early-Christian basilicas with mosaics, evidence of a long past. A stroll through the old village's cobbled lanes with a glass of local wine at sunset is one of the finest experiences in the region.
In Nikiti you'll eat fresh fish and seafood by the water, taste local honey, olives and wine, and find lively bars and cafés along the beach — a balance between family calm and youthful fun.
Nikiti is about 1.5 hours by car from Thessaloniki airport and is the first major village as you enter Sithonia. That makes it an ideal base for exploring the whole second leg — from Vourvourou and Agios Nikolaos to Sarti and Neos Marmaras.
It suits almost everyone: families, couples and groups find both quiet and lively options here. Best season is May–September, with August the busiest — book early.
