Sozopoli is a seaside village in the municipality of Nea Propontida, on the Thermaic Gulf, about 6 km from Nea Kallikratia and 38 km from Thessaloniki airport. It is built on a low hill, at an altitude of about 20 metres.

Sozopoli is a seaside village in the municipality of Nea Propontida, on the Thermaic Gulf, about 6 km from Nea Kallikratia and 38 km from Thessaloniki airport. It is built on a low hill, at an altitude of about 20 metres.
The settlement used to be called Servikon Metochion and was renamed Sozopoli in 1948. Most residents descend from Thracian refugees, mainly from Sozopol in Northern Thrace (today in Bulgaria, on the Black Sea), and also from Anchialos and Pyrgos (Burgas). Roman and Byzantine remains have been found on the village hill.
The village beach stretches for about 3.5 km, with shallow water and a sandy seabed, suitable for families. Jet skiing and windsurfing are available. A little further west, about 2.5 km away, is Vergia beach.
The village's main feast is on 6 August, the Transfiguration, with a procession of the icon and a village party; a sardine festival is held the same day.
Nearby are Nea Plagia (about 5 km) and Flogita (about 6 km), while Nea Moudania is about 12 km away. There are regular buses from Thessaloniki.
