The wider area is historically linked to the mines of Halkidiki (lead, zinc, gold), active here since antiquity. The village's name recalls Queen Stratonike, giving it historical depth and an identity different from the tourist resorts.
Built in the mountains, Stratoniki offers coolness, clean air and panoramic views of the sea and the mountains of upper Halkidiki — ideal for calm walks and photography.
The sea isn't far: Stratoni with its beach is a few kilometres below, while beautiful Olympiada is also close by.
