## Description

Zografou is a small farming village in the Moudania municipal unit of Nea Propontida, at an altitude of about 65 metres. It lies inland, about 4 km from the coast and 5 km from Nea Moudania, and has about 250 permanent residents (2021 census).

The name

Until 1940 the settlement was called Metochi Zografou, because a metochi — a farm estate — of the Athonite Zografou Monastery stood here. After the population exchange of 1922–1923, refugees from Andaval in Cappadocia settled here, and their descendants hold a yearly gathering of the "Andavalides".

What sets it apart

It is a quiet village with no tourist infrastructure, where people work mainly in farming. It suits those who prefer to stay away from the seaside resorts.

The sea

The nearest beaches are at Nea Moudania and Plagia – Flogita, about 5 km each — sandy and shallow.

Around the village

Nearby are Portaria (about 4 km), Flogita and Nea Triglia (about 4.5 km) and Nea Moudania, with shops and a port. The archaeological site of Olynthos is a few kilometres away.
