Traditional Restaurants in Halkidiki

Traditional Greek cuisine finds its most authentic expression in the tavernas of Halkidiki — moussaka, pastitsio, stuffed vegetables, roast goat and garden-fresh produce. Many are set in picturesque villages such as Arnaia, Parthenonas and old Nikiti, with local olive oil, wine and genuine hospitality.

At the taverna, order a spread of mezedes to share and ask for the day’s mageirefta — slow-cooked pot dishes simmering since morning. Portions are generous, the wine is usually local from the barrel, and a complimentary dessert at the end is almost a given. The best value is away from the beachfront strip.
