Nea Kallikrateia Beach is one of the most well-equipped beaches in western Halkidiki. It is located on the northwestern side of the region, just before entering Kassandra. It is only 50 km (a 45-minute drive) from Thessaloniki — one of the closest beaches to the city.
The coastline is sandy, long, and has been awarded the Blue Flag in most years. The water is shallow for 20-30 meters, making it ideal for families. It is fully organized with sunbeds, lifeguards during summer hours, beach bars, and pedestrian walkways along the waterfront.
Nea Kallikrateia is the closest "beach town" to Thessaloniki, so it fills up with locals who come for weekends and day trips. It is a small urban center with all the necessary amenities — supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, and cafes.
The nightlife is quite lively — with several bars along the waterfront, a modern cafe scene, and some clubs. It may not be as vibrant as Hanioti, but it is more lively than most beaches in Halkidiki.
Although it is close to Thessaloniki, it is not considered part of the "touristic Halkidiki" — it is more of a local destination. This means: fewer foreign tourists, more affordable prices, and a more "Greek" character.
For those coming for just 1-2 days from Thessaloniki, or for those looking for a nearby budget destination, Nea Kallikrateia is an ideal choice. Parking can be a bit tight on peak weekends — free parking is available further away from the waterfront.
The beach is located in Παραλία Νέας Καλλικράτειας, Νέα Τρίγλια, Mainland Halkidiki, Halkidiki.
