Faka

Faka is one of the most secluded beaches on Ammouliani, the only inhabited island in Halkidiki, about three kilometres from the harbour and village. It's a sandy beach with clear water and no facilities at all: no snack bar, no sunbeds, no showers.

To get there, first take the ferry from Trypiti, a crossing of a few minutes. From the harbour, the road to Faka isn't suitable for every car, so allow for some walking; many visitors prefer to rent a small boat at Ammouliani harbour and arrive by sea.

As there's nothing nearby, bring plenty of water, food, an umbrella and sunscreen, and take all your rubbish with you. The isolation is also its great strength: even in August there are few people. Karagatsia beach is about a kilometre away, and Tsaska and Kalopigado around two, if you'd like to combine several of the island's beaches. For food, the fish tavernas are at the harbour.
