Elia is a small coastal spot in northwestern Sithonia, just south of Nikiti. It’s not a typical village — it’s mainly a region with hotels and villas along a beautiful sandy beach, with a pine forest at the back and views of the Singitic Gulf. It got its name from the dense olive trees that grow in the surrounding area.
Location and How to Get There
Located in northwestern Sithonia, 3 km south of Nikiti. It is 108 kilometers (1 hour 45 minutes drive) from Thessaloniki.
You can reach Nikiti by KTEL and continue by taxi (5-7 euros) or by car.
The Beach
The Elia Beach is one of the most beautiful in northwestern Sithonia. It features fine white sand, a shallow seabed, and turquoise waters. The pines at the back provide natural shade. It has a Blue Flag most years.
Partially organized — most sunbeds belong to the surrounding hotels. There are also free sections of the beach. 1-2 beach bars at the front.
Nearby beaches:
- Kastrí Loutrá (Nikiti): 2 km north, organized with a Blue Flag
- Mola Kaliva: 3 km south
- Beaches of Neos Marmaras: 18-22 km south
- Karydi Vourvourou: 35 km east (crossing Sithonia)
Food
In Elia, there are 1-2 seaside tavernas mainly part of the hotels. For more notable dining options, most head to Nikiti (3 km) — which has several traditional tavernas, fish tavernas, and some international restaurants.
Accommodation
Elia is mainly a "hotel zone". There are several mid-range and large hotels, as well as villas:
- Studios and apartments: 60-110 euros/night in June/September, 100-180 in peak
- 3-4* hotels: 100-180 in normal, 170-280 in peak
- 5* resorts (some): from 300-450 euros/night up to 700+ in peak
