Paliouri is a coastal village at the southern tip of Kassandra — the southernmost point of the first leg of Halkidiki. With around 700 permanent residents, it maintains the character of a family-friendly holiday destination, featuring a large sandy beach, local tavernas, and a more "quiet" atmosphere compared to the well-known centers of Kassandra. The name comes from the bushy plant "paliouri" (Paliurus spina-christi) that grows in the area.
Location and How to Get There
At the southern tip of Kassandra, 8 km south of Pefkochori. It is 120 kilometers (1 hour 50 minutes drive) from Thessaloniki. From SKG airport, it takes 2 hours.
There are 2-3 daily bus schedules with KTEL Halkidiki during the summer.
The Beach
Paliouri has an excellent sandy beach that is 2.5 km long, often awarded the Blue Flag. Pine trees at the back provide natural shade. It is partially organized with sunbeds and beach bars in the center, and free at the edges.
