Aretes Beach is located in southwestern Sithonia, near Toroni. It is one of the most beautiful white beaches in the area, featuring hidden coves and rocky formations that make it unique.
It is 138 km (about 2 hours and 15 minutes drive) from Thessaloniki. Access is via a provincial road from Toroni.
The shoreline is sandy and white with a shallow, short depth. It continues into various small coves formed by rocky projections. The area boasts distinct beauty due to the white rocks reminiscent of Kavourotripes — but with less crowding.
It is a free beach without official organization. A kiosk may appear during the peak months.
For snorkeling, it is an excellent choice — the rocky edges are rich in marine life, with clear waters and interesting underwater corners. A quieter experience than Kavourotripes with similar natural beauty.
Clientele: those seeking an authentic experience away from the mass scene, snorkeling enthusiasts, photographers. Rarely overcrowded.
For swimming: excellent in the sandy areas. For children: okay in the shallower spots but requires caution due to rocky edges.
Access: some sections of the road may be unpaved. An SUV is more comfortable. Parking is irregular at the edges of the beach.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, a towel, sunscreen, and water shoes. Shade: limited — a few small trees at the back.
Combine with a visit to ancient Toroni (5 km) or Porto Koufo (12 km) for a seafood meal.
The beach is located in Παραλία Αρετές, Σιθωνία, Sithonia, Halkidiki.
