Portokali

Portokali, also known as Kavourotrypes or Orange Beach, is on the east coast of Sithonia, about five kilometres north of Sarti, near Platanitsi. It isn't a single beach but a series of small coves between white rocks, with sand and pebbles, shallow turquoise water and pines reaching down to the shore. It's one of the most photographed beaches in Halkidiki.

The beach is free and unorganised, so bring an umbrella, water and something to eat. The rocks between the coves are ideal for snorkelling, and the water is very clear. Because the coves are small, they fill up fast in August: to find a spot, arrive before ten.

Access is from the coastal road of eastern Sithonia, and from the car park you walk down a short path — shoes with good grip help. Megalo Portokali is next door, about 300 metres away, and Platanitsi nudist beach less than a kilometre. For food and shopping, Sarti is the nearest village.
