Platanitsi Beach is one of the most impressive beaches in eastern Sithonia. It is located 7 km north of Sarti, on the way to Ormos Panagias. What sets it apart are the sand dunes, 3-4 meters high, at the back of the beach — a rare geomorphological feature for Sithonia — and the dense pine forest that reaches almost to the sea.
The coastline is sandy, approximately 1 km long, with a shallow depth extending for 20-30 meters. The sand is fine and white, with turquoise waters.
The beach is partially organized, mainly through the nearby Camping Armenistis, which has its own section with sunbeds, showers, and a beach bar. There are also free areas where the pines provide shade, creating a more "natural" atmosphere.
It rarely gets overly crowded due to its large space — even in August. The clientele includes campers, families with small children (ideal shallow waters), and nature lovers.
For swimming: excellent, safe with shallow waters. For snorkeling: moderate opportunities — the coastline is mainly sandy with not many rocky spots.
The area is part of a larger protected Natura 2000 area. Respect the environment: do not leave trash, do not step on sensitive plants around the sand dunes.
From Platanitsi, you can easily visit Sarti (7 km south), Ormos Panagias (10 km north), or take a boat trip to the Diaporos islands from a nearby harbor. Free parking is available at the edges. 4G coverage is satisfactory.
The beach is located in Παραλία Πλατανίτσι, Σιθωνία, Sithonia, Halkidiki.
