Kassandreia

Kassandreia is the central town of Kassandra and the commercial and administrative centre of the first leg. Built slightly inland from the coast, at the start of the peninsula, it acts as a service hub for the whole area.

What sets it apart

Unlike the seaside resorts, Kassandreia has the character of a lively town: a market, shops, services and life year-round. It's the point from which practically all of Kassandra is served.

History

Its name recalls ancient Kassandreia, one of the most important cities of ancient Macedonia, founded by King Cassander on the site of ancient Potidaea.

Who it suits and when

Ideal as a practical, central base for exploring Kassandra, with all services close by. Lively year-round.
