Diaporti is a small, quiet beach in southwestern Sithonia, between Neos Marmaras and Toroni, right next to Azapiko. It is named after the “diaporti” — the narrow sea passage separating it from the islet of Pounta (Gerochristo) directly opposite.
That passage is also what makes it special: a shallow strip of seabed almost joins the shore to the islet. When the water level is low the passage emerges, and you can walk towards Pounta through water only a few centimetres deep — a scene that feels more like a tropical island than Halkidiki.
The beach itself is small, mostly gravel and pebbles with sandy patches. The water is shallow, crystal-clear and warms up quickly thanks to the low depth.
It is a completely free beach: no sunbeds, no beach bar, no permanent canteen. Bring an umbrella, water and whatever you need — and take your rubbish with you. That very lack of facilities is what keeps it quiet even in August.
For snorkeling it is an excellent choice: the shallows around the passage and the islet are full of life with very good visibility. For children the water is safe, as long as you don’t mind the absence of services.
Access is from the Neos Marmaras–Toroni road; Neos Marmaras is about 10 km north and Toroni 8 km south. If you want an organized alternative nearby, try Azapiko and Tristinika slightly to the north, or the long beach of Toroni.
Best time: morning, before the wind picks up, or late afternoon — the sunset over the Toroneos Gulf, with Kassandra across the water, is among the finest in western Sithonia.
The beach is located in Διαπόρτι, Σιθωνία, Sithonia, Halkidiki.
