Tigania is among the most secluded beaches of southeastern Sithonia, on the wild coast between Kalamitsi (5 km) and Sykia. The name describes its shape: an enclosed cove like a frying pan ("tigani").
The shore mixes sand and pebble, with exceptionally clear water — the cove is sheltered by rocks that also make for very good snorkeling.
It is completely free and hard to reach: a dirt road and footpath off the Sykia-Kalamitsi road, or approach by boat. Which is exactly why it stays nearly empty all season — castaway scenery.
Bring everything (water, shade, supplies) and take your rubbish when you leave. For an organized alternative, Kalamitsi is a 10-15 minute drive.
Best time: morning, before the wind picks up — the cove needs a calm sea to show its clarity. Alternatively, many combine it with a day's boat rental from Kalamitsi, together with Prassou and the surrounding islets.
The beach is located in Τηγανιά, Καλαμίτσι, Sithonia, Halkidiki.
Tigania is a free/unorganized beach.
