Kassandra: The Complete Guide

Kassandra: The Lively Face of Halkidiki

Kassandra is the first and most accessible peninsula, just 50 minutes from Thessaloniki airport. It's the go-to for visitors who want lively holidays with excellent beaches, vibrant nightlife, and charming villages, all with great infrastructure.

Villages & Areas

  • Afytos: A stone-built village perched on a cliff above the sea. Picturesque main square with traditional cafes, artisan shops, and spectacular sunset views over the Thermaikos Gulf. The most charming village on Kassandra.
  • Kallithea: The nightlife capital of Halkidiki. Large beach clubs, thermal baths, the ancient Temple of Zeus Ammon, and plenty of restaurants. Popular with younger crowds.
  • Hanioti: A well-developed tourist center with a long sandy beach, pedestrian shopping street, and a good mix of family-friendly and lively areas. Mini-markets, restaurants, and beach bars line the waterfront.
  • Pefkohori: A large beach resort area, ideal for families. Close to the cape of Kassandra with its lighthouse. Many all-inclusive hotels.
  • Siviri: Family-oriented village with a cultural festival every summer (Kassandra Festival at the amphitheater). Shallow waters, safe for children.
  • Possidi: The lighthouse at Cape Possidi marks a beautiful sandy beach, with calm waters on both sides of the cape. Peaceful atmosphere.
  • Nea Fokea: A traditional fishing village at the peninsula's entrance. The Byzantine Tower of St. Paul overlooks the harbor. Authentic seafood tavernas.
