The ferry departs from Tripiti (10 km south of Ouranoupoli) every 30-60 minutes in summer. The crossing takes just 15 minutes and costs approximately €3 per person (€12-15 with a car).
The Drenia islets lie just minutes by boat from Ammouliani. Uninhabited, with exotic turquoise waters reminiscent of the Caribbean. Boat trips depart from Ammouliani village (€10-15) or from Ouranoupoli (€15-25 including Drenia stop).
Ammouliani's small village has excellent fish tavernas right on the waterfront. Try fresh grilled fish, charcoal octopus, and local wine. Prices are reasonable — a fish meal costs €12-18 per person. The village also has mini-markets for basics, a bakery, and a couple of cafés.
Summer (June–September) for beaches and swimming. July–August is peak. May, early June, or September give great weather with fewer crowds and 30–50% lower prices.

Highly recommended. Beaches and villages are spread out, buses are sparse. If you skip the car, pick accommodation near a popular resort (Kallithea, Hanioti, Nikiti) with restaurants and beaches in walking distance.
