The Museum of Asia Minor Culture is in Nea Triglia, in western Halkidiki. The village was founded after the population exchange of 1923 by refugees from Triglia, a Greek town on the southern shore of the Sea of Marmara near Moudania, who rebuilt their lives here and kept the name of their homeland.
The museum brings together objects the refugees carried with them: costumes, furniture, utensils, photographs and documents from life in Asia Minor and the first years in their new home. It's small but valuable for anyone who wants to understand how deeply the refugee experience marked the area, since many villages in Halkidiki share a similar history.
A visit takes less than an hour. Opening hours aren't fixed all year, so get in touch before you go. You can combine it with the Folklore Museum of Nea Moudania nearby, which tells the same story from the side of the refugees from Moudania.
The Museum of Minor Asian Culture activity takes place in Χαλκιδικής, Nea Triglia, Mainland Halkidiki, Halkidiki.
