The main beach of Ierissos is one of the largest beaches in northeastern Halkidiki. It is located 110 km from Thessaloniki (1 hour 50 minutes drive). It stretches for 8 kilometers from the village northward to Nea Roda.
The beach is sandy with a shallow bottom for 20-30 meters. It has been awarded the Blue Flag in most years. Due to its vast expanse, even on the busiest days in August, you can find a spot for your towel.
Ierissos is a traditional fishing village with 2,700 permanent residents. The beach is located within the village, offering full amenities: fish taverns, cafes, ATMs, pharmacies, supermarkets, and a KTEL bus station. Village life continues year-round, not just in the summer.
For swimming: ideal with safe shallow waters. For snorkeling: moderate opportunities.
From Ierissos, cruises to Mount Athos depart (4-5 hours, 30-40 euros for adults) — an alternative to Ouranoupoli with less crowding and a different viewing angle (eastern coast of Athos).
The fish taverns in Ierissos are among the most reliable in eastern Halkidiki for fresh fish at reasonable prices (30-50 euros for a table for 2).
Free parking is available at the edges, with paid parking near the waterfront. Best period: June-September. It has a more local character compared to the more touristy areas of Halkidiki.
The beach is located in Πλαζ Ιερισσός, Χαλκιδική, Athos, Halkidiki.
Ierissos Beach is a sandy beach.
Ierissos Beach beach has a rating of 3.8/5.
