Komitsa Beach is a small hidden cove in northeastern Halkidiki, near Ouranoupoli and Tripiti. It is 125 km (about 2 hours drive) from Thessaloniki. It is one of the most picturesque beaches in the area.
The coastline is sandy with pebbles, about 250 meters long, and has a shallow bottom. A pine forest at the back provides excellent natural shade. It is mostly free — with some sunbeds available in certain spots.
The waters are exceptionally clear. The cove's shape protects it from waves — ideal for swimming, kayaking, and SUP.
For snorkeling: there are excellent opportunities at the rocky edges of the cove — you can spot bream, salema, and octopuses. Visibility is usually 8-10 meters.
Clientele: locals, groups familiar with the area, couples looking for a romantic spot. It is rarely overcrowded.
The surrounding area offers stunning views of Mount Athos — from the beach, you can see the peninsula and, on clear days, the sharp peak of the mountain.
Access: via a provincial road from Ouranoupoli or Tripiti. Free parking at the edges — it can fill up on peak weekends in August. Bring water, snacks, towels, and sunscreen. Shade from the pines is good.
For lunch, a short drive to Ouranoupoli (3 km) offers notable fish tavernas. Best period: June-September.
Nice spot for food after swimming.
