**Sithonia** is the second peninsula of Halkidiki and undoubtedly the best destination for snorkeling in Northern Greece. The rocky shores, clear waters (visibility of 8-15 meters under normal conditions), and rich marine life create conditions that rival many island counterparts.
**Kavourotripes (Portokali)**: Possibly the best snorkeling spot in Halkidiki. White rocky formations, turquoise waters, sarpa, salema, and octopuses among the rocks. Access via a dirt road 2 km from the main asphalt road.
**Diaporos Islands**: With a boat trip from Vourvourou — the rocky edges of the islands have visibility of 10-12 meters and rich fauna. Dive at different islands on the same day.
**Spathies**: An even more remote cove south of Kalamitsi — excellent visibility, few people, rocky edges with sarpa and grouper.
**Kalamitsi**: Southern Sithonia, rocky edges with octopuses, sarpa, and salema. Easily combined with a visit to the main beach.
**Equipment**: Almost none of these spots offer rental on-site — bring your own. Basic mask and snorkel: 20-40 euros (Decathlon or similar).
**Water Shoes**: Essential for rocky shores — sea urchins are present.
**Best Time**: June and September — milder winds, better visibility. July-August the waters are warmer (25-27°C) but visibility may decrease due to plankton.
**Safety**: Do not snorkel alone in remote spots. Avoid during strong winds (4+ Beaufort).
