There is a particular rhythm to a summer day in Halkidiki, and it turns on the beach bar. You arrive mid-morning, claim a sunbed, order a freddo espresso and let the day unfold — a swim, a frappé, a plate of something salty, and then, as the light turns gold, a cold cocktail with your feet still in the sand. Nowhere does this better than Sithonia, and no village does it more famously than Sarti, where a single stretch of coast holds more beach bars than some whole islands.
How a Halkidiki beach bar works
Unlike the clubs of Mykonos, the Halkidiki beach bar is an all-day, all-ages affair. The same spot that serves your morning coffee will pour sunset cocktails twelve hours later. Most run on a simple, generous deal: order a drink and the sunbed and umbrella are yours for the day — or you pay a small set fee, usually €5–10. Prices stay refreshingly down-to-earth: coffee €3–5, a cocktail €7–10, a beer €4–6. Bring cash for the smaller canteens; the bigger bars take cards.
- Morning (9:30–12:00): coffee, fresh juice, a quiet swim before the crowds.
- Afternoon (12:00–18:00): the busy stretch — music, snacks, sunbathing.
- Golden hour (18:00–21:00): cocktails, the DJ warms up, the sea turns pink.
Sithonia: Sarti and the beach-bar coast
If Halkidiki has a beach-bar capital, it is Sarti. The long sandy bay is lined end to end with them, and in July and August the strip hums well after dark. Goa Beach Bar (around 4.5★ from 800+ reviews) and Ark Beach Bar (4.7★, ~780 reviews) are among the busiest, while Cielo Beach Bar (4.6★) and Paradise Beach Bar (4.7★) keep the beat going into the evening. For something more laid-back, Loco Beach Bar (4.8★) and the newer Sarti Premium Seaside Bar (4.9★, nearly 1,000 reviews) have a devoted following. Smaller but well-loved: Ocean Seaside, Solair, Sunrise, Estrella and the long-running Café Paris.
Just south, at Sykia, Yucca Beach Bar (4.9★, right on the water) is probably the most photographed in the area — pair it with a day at Karydi beach or Sarti itself.
Kassandra: the quieter west coast
Nea Skioni, on Kassandra's west side, is calmer and faces the sunset. The standout here is White Season Beach Bar (4.4★, ~680 reviews): shallow water, sunbeds to the shoreline and one of the best west-facing views on the whole peninsula.
Ammouliani and the Athos gulf
On the Mount Athos side, The Golden Hook (4.5★, over 1,100 reviews, sea view) blends beach-bar ease with fresh fish and a view across to Ammouliani island.
When you want food and music too
Some places balance beach bar, taverna and live music. Arsanas (4.3★, over 3,000 reviews, sea view and live music) is arguably the most popular of all; Barcarolla keeps a cocktail-bar feel by the water; and Avra at Ormos Panagias ties sea, seafood and drinks together.
Best for sunset

Practical information
- Getting there: Sarti is ~110 km from Thessaloniki; the bars line Sithonia's coast road. A car helps enormously.
- Hours: most open 9:30–10:00 and close late; in August the music runs past midnight.
- Sunbeds: usually free with an order, or €5–10 per set. Mornings are easy; after noon they fill up.
- Payment: cards at the bigger bars, cash at the canteens.
- Families: all-day beach bars are child-friendly until the early evening.
