Stagira

Stagira is a mountain village in north-eastern Halkidiki, known worldwide as the birthplace of Aristotle. It rarely combines philosophical heritage with a beautiful mountain landscape near the sea.

In the footsteps of Aristotle

Near the village lies the archaeological site of Ancient Stagira, the city where the great philosopher was born in 384 BC. In modern Stagira is also Aristotle's Park, with his statue and interactive physics instruments that bring his teaching to life.

Nature and character

Built on a slope overlooking the Strymonic Gulf, Stagira keeps an authentic mountain character with stone houses and a cool climate.

The sea isn't far: the shores of Stratoni and beautiful Olympiada are a few kilometres away.

Getting there and around

It's about 1.5 hours by car from Thessaloniki. Next to it is picturesque Stratoniki, with Stratoni and Olympiada close by.
